A process called an action potential happens where the membrane potential for a specific cell initially increases and then decreases. It is a characteristic property for a range of animal cells , namely muscle cells, neuron cells, and the endocrine cell. Plant cells also produce these. The majority of cells have an electrical voltage gap between their external and internal environments. The voltage of the cell is measured in milli volts (mV). The voltage-gated ion channel actually a group of proteins , which are encased inside the plasma membrane. These proteins produce actions potential due to the fact that it could produce a positive feedback loop. Membrane potential is the main factor responsible for controlling the level of Ion channels. The action potential is created whenever the positive feedback takes place at full intensity. The duration and the amplitude are determined by the bio-physical properties of the ion channels with voltage-gated voltage. A variety of Ion Channels are known that produce positive feedback processes that cause the creation of these potentials. Voltage-gated sodium channels are involved with the creation of higher potentials similar to those generated by nerve impulse.
