The action potential is created in the event that the positive feedback process takes place at full intensity. The time and the intensity are determined by the biophysical properties of the ion-channels that are voltage-gated. Several types of ion channels are recognized that create positive feedback cycles that eventually cause the creation of these potentials. Voltage-gated sodium channel are involved in the production of high-speed potentials similar to nerve impulse.
