The duration and intensity are determined by the bio-physical properties of the ion channels with voltage-gated voltage. A variety of Ion Channels are known that produce positive feedback and lead to the generation of these potentials. The sodium channels that are voltage-gated participate in the creation of fast impulses like nerve impulse.
