The typical voltage of an animal cell is -70 mV. In the majority of cells, tiny voltage fluctuations are observed as occurring, however in certain cells this is a regular feature. In brain cells the down and up sequence of action potentials are performed in less than a thousandth of a second while in other cells, cycles may take several seconds.
